Baraonda
Diploma project
June 2023 — Ongoing
During my studies in graphic design, I became involved in the world of childhood and education. For my thesis, I researched the new pedagogies that developed during the 20th century, taking an interest in the pedagogues Maria Montessori and Célestin Freinet, the artist and designer Bruno Munari, the architect Riccardo Dalisi and many others. Nowadays, there's a lot of talk about the role of graphic designers, their power to transmit information and 'educate' people. So what role can graphic designers play in the world of childhood and children as future citizens and players in society? How can we raise awareness in a particular age group? What is the best approach? Is there one? What are the social issues and challenges we face today?
I tried to answer these questions through my diploma work, developing the Baraonda project, which consists of a playful system for running creative activities. The workshop consists of manipulating a wheel of fortune made up of several circles that determine the different characteristics and rules that will be put in place. Based on 4 themes (personal qualities, dream job, family, objects to save the planet), I manage to tackle several topical subjects. At the beginning of each workshop, there's a moment for discussion, where we talk about ecology, gender issues and self-confidence. Nine stages have been devised for the activity, from the widest circle to the narrowest. These stages first determine a theme and a medium, then the technique, the different materials, the colours and so on. You can use all the circles or work with a partial selection. In addition to the series of circles, I have developed various materials to support the workshops: wooden stencils, a collection of images and stickers. The development of the project and some of the results of the activities carried out in primary school classes in Lausanne have been brought together in a printed edition. All the materials are brought together in a cloth-covered cardboard box.

Le temps d'apprendre
Bachelor thesis
February 2023
Le Temps d'apprendre is a research project on the methods of the new pedagogy developed in the last century and on current projects linked to children's manual skills. This work is based on a theoretical approach supplemented by interviews and surveys that give concrete form to the subject. The aim is to use the graphic arts to re-examine the various mechanisms that contribute to children's development.
Special thanks to Alexandru Balgiu for supervising my research. I would also like to thank Silvia Paradela and Francesca Martinelli for the precious exchanges.

Spinning around
Editorial and Video
February 2023
Research into visual experimentation and the creation of images through circular movements and static forms. The result is both a book containing a series of circles created on a ceramic wheel, and a video showing the various circles in motion on wooden spinning tops.
Each page of the book has a type of laser cut that allows each circle to be detached and placed on the spinning top.
